What a tonne costs, by material
Year 1 (2025 to 2026) base fees, GBP per tonne. Fibre-based composite costs 2.4 times what glass does, so switching material moves a bill further than any other lever except the household split.
ConfirmedEvery rate shown here.
- 'Other' includes any material not listed. The 2025 base fees document gives the examples bamboo, ceramic, copper, cork, hemp, rubber. The Year 2 illustrative document gives the same list plus silicone.
- Called 'Paper and card' in the 2025 base fees document and 'Paper and board' in the Year 2 illustrative document. Same category.
